TO THE VIGNE

Rooted Values
Revealing the very essence of a terroir inevitably involves rigorous and responsible conduct of the vineyard. A viticulture attentive to the plant, its balance, its cycles and its environment.
A precise viticulture, based on meticulous observation and follow-up of each of the 60 parcels in the domain, where tasks are carried out in the first place with the dexterity of man's hand without denying the weighted and thoughtful technical support of the machine.
A living vine...
These plots are cultivated by always favouring the quality of the fruit over its quantity. Quality closely dependent on the vitality of the stocks guaranteed by a strong and deep rooting allowing the vine to draw minerals from the soil and to resist periods of drought. Respectful of sap flow, the short Guyot Poussard size will ensure a moderate vigour and yield, so as to obtain grapes in which the vine sap will concentrate sugars, minerals and acids perfectly ripe and balanced at the time of harvest.
...in a healthy vineyard
These grapes must also be as pure and healthy as possible. Also, in the mid-2000s, Patrick and Christophe Roth had the will to question their farming practices in order to go towards a viticulture that put the plant at the centre of the scheme for wines more revealing of their terroir. After initial tests and a period of transition and observation of the results on the ground and on the wines, the vineyard of Domaine Robert Roth began the conversion of its entire vineyard to Organic Agriculture at the beginning of 2016 for an ECOCERT certification acquired in 2019.
This cultural choice results in the complete abandonment of plant protection products and fertilizers from synthetic chemistry and herbicides. The latter are replaced by the use of compounds of only natural origin (Bordeau coffee, mineral sulphur, compost...) and by ploughing. To this is added practices such as natural grassing, late mowing or settlement prevention, aimed at preserving the vitality of the soil and the fauna and flora of the plots of the estate and thus reducing the impact of its viticulture on the environment.
